Dear Friends, I am delighted to welcome you to Providence Hall’s website! For many of you, the founding of Providence Hall, a Christian college preparatory high school in Santa Barbara, represents the fulfillment of a long-prayed-for hope and vision—one that continues to take shape. Already our website offers you an overview of the school’s founding mission, vision, and philosophy of education. I invite you to read these on-line statements to gain a clearer understanding of our commitment to a quality Christ-centered school whose program will challenge and equip students for college and for life. As you explore the website, you’ll find further information regarding academics and our faculty, admissions processes and forms, co-curricular activities, community life, and institutional advancement. Grosh Headmaster For the last fourteen years, Ronald M. Grosh has served as Executive Consultant for Paideia, Inc., an institutional consulting firm for non-profits that is dedicated to excellence in all areas of leadership, development, schooling, and higher learning. With Paideia, Inc., Grosh has helped found schools, mentored administrations and boards of directors, led strategic planning processes, conducted faculty in-service, reviewed curricula and programming, developed advancement programs, and prepared schools for capital campaigns. He has also conducted approximately 200 seminars and workshops for Paideia, Inc., The Society for Classical Learning, and the Association of Christian Schools International throughout North America. In addition to working directly with boards and administrations of schools and churches, Grosh has led three schools as an acting headmaster and has served on the boards of several schools, including inner-city programs. Prior to joining Paideia, Inc., Ron Grosh served as a professor of English at Cedarville College in Ohio before being called to lead Springfield Christian Schools for nine years. He holds a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University and has served on the board and as President of Michigan State University’s Society for the Study of Mid-Western Literature, through which he has published several articles. He was awarded a research fellowship from the Newberry Library in Chicago for archival research and publication. Ron is married to Ellyn Lockerbie Grosh, formerly Assistant Professor of French at Wheaton College (IL) and more recently Lecturer in French at The University of Chicago. Ron is the father of two adult daughters and the proud grandfather of three.
