Curriculum
The curriculum of Providence Hall incorporates some elements of the “classical” approach, with core coursework in the humanities, which includes history, art, literature, political science, music and the development of our Judeo-Christian heritage. A course in rhetoric provides students with the communication and critical thinking skills so essential to college and vocational success. In addition, Providence Hall offers a full range of mathematics study, all of the major natural sciences, foreign languages, music, theatre, visual art, and physical education.
A fundamental commitment of Providence Hall is to prepare students for acceptance into the finest colleges and universities in the country. Thus the instructional program is rigorous and creative, providing strength in the basic competencies, as well as experience in the latest technology, cross-cultural experience, and the resources to grow in their personal character and Christian faith.
An anchor to our program is The Foundations of the Christian Faith course which includes surveys of the Old and New Testament, the history of the Christian church, basic Christian theology, and the explosive growth of the Christian church throughout the world today.
The training of the mind is the core of the schoolʼs educational philosophy, equipping our students to excel academically as well as to become beacons of wisdom and leadership in a culture of continuous and rapid change. To that end, the school emphasizes the basic fundamentals of strong writing, analytical skills, and independent thinking throughout an interdisciplinary curriculum; it includes not only formation in the subjects traditional to the arts and sciences but also those such as logic, ethics, and computer/digital literacy so necessary for higher education and professional fields.
