Philosophy

Providence Hall views athletics as an extension of the classroom and recognizes that athletics will play an important and unique role in educating the whole person–-mind, body, and spirit. Participation in competitive athletics provides the opportunity for purposeful physical activity that promotes physical fitness, coordination, and mental acuity, as well as an arena for exercising teamwork and leadership skills.

We pursue excellence on the playing courts and fields. Our student-athletes and teams strive to become fundamentally sound in their chosen sports. We challenge our student-athletes to be in superb physical condition and to play with great intensity. We play as a team. We train in the off-season in preparation for the season. We recognize that athletics are to be enjoyed, and it is our desire that all that of our student-athletes have a wonderful experience. Our fundamental goal is to “Play hard, play smart, and have fun.”

We also recognize and support the contribution competitive athletics make to the development of the school’s community, culture, and collective spirit.
