In order to qualify for a diploma from Providence Hall, a student must meet the following requirements:
Complete not less than 230 semester credits of classroom or supervised activities in grades 9-12 with passing grades (D or better). Satisfactory attendance and good citizenship are reflected in academic grades and credits completed. Students are also required to complete 20 service hours each year they are enrolled in the school.
Complete the following subject matter requirements in grades 9-12 with passing grades.
Honors courses available for most classes.
English (Four Years/40 credits)
• Humanities I (Ancient Literature and Composition): One Year/10 Credits
• Humanities II (World Literature and Composition): One Year/10 Credits
• Humanities III (American Literature): One Year/10 Credits
• British Literature: One Year/10 Credits
History (Four Years/40 credits)
• Humanities I (Ancient and Medieval History): One Year/10 Credits
• Humanities II (Modern World History): One Year/10 Credits
• Humanities III (US History or AP US History): One Year/10 Credits
• Economics: One Semester/5 Credits
• US Government: One Semester/5 Credits
Science (Three Years/30 credits)
• Biology: One Year/10 Credits (required)
• Chemistry: One Year/10 Credits (required)
• Physics: One Year/10 Credits
• Marine Biology: One Year/10 Credits
• AP Biology: One Year/10 Credits
Mathematics (Three Years/30 credits)
• Algebra 1: One Year/10 Credits
• Geometry: One Year/10 Credits
• Algebra 2: One Year/10 Credits
• Pre-Calculus: One Year/10 Credits
• AP Calculus AB: One Year/10 Credits
• AP Statistics: One Year/10 Credits
Students must take the classes listed above in sequential order. After Pre-Calculus students may choose AP Calculus AB or AP Statistics.
Foreign Language (Three Years/30 credits)
• Spanish 1: One Year/10 Credits

• Spanish 3: One Year/10 Credits
• Spanish 4 or AP Spanish Language: One Year/10 Credits
Students are required to take two successive years in the same language.
University of California (UC) Approved Visual and Performing Arts (Three Years/30 credits)
10 credits of Visual and Performing Arts must be completed in a year-long UC-approved sequence.
Theology (Four Years/20 credits)
• Foundations I: One Year/5 Credits
• Foundations II: One Year/5 Credits
• Foundations III: One Year/5 Credits
• Foundations IV: One Year/5 Credits
Outdoor Education/Team Sports (Two Years/20 credits)
• Fall Sports: Girls Volleyball, Boys and Girls Cross Country
• Winter Sports: Boys and Girls Basketball
• Spring Sports: Boys Volleyball, Boys and Girls Track & Field
Each season of a sport counts as one semester/5 credits
• Fitness Pursuits: One quarter/2.5 Credits
Christian Worldview and Comparative Religions (One Semester/5 credits)
Senior Thesis Project (One Semester/5 credits)
